6.1.2. Use of unleaded gasoline

The fuel recommended for use is specified in subsection 6.1.1.

Standard high-quality grades of fuel are suitable. Quality of fuel considerably influences the power, kind of work and service life of the engine. At the same time are of great importance added to fuel of additive (additive) therefore fill only qualitative grades of fuel with additives.

Use of fuel with insufficient value of octane number can lead to the knocks caused by early installation of ignition.

Fuel with higher octane number can be applied in any cases. At cars in which fuel tank it is necessary to fill unleaded gasoline it is impossible to insert into a bulk mouth of the fuel tank the gun of a fuel-dispensing column with ethylated gasoline.

Designation of RON and MON fuel is defined by standards of tests. RON defines research octane number while MON defines engine octane number.

If the car is operated on unleaded gasoline of 95 (RON), it is necessary to perform the following operations to avoid a detonation in engine cylinders.

MODELS OF 1,2 L

On models of 1,2 l made till February, 1985 it is possible to use unleaded gasoline, but on each five gas stations of unleaded gasoline it is necessary to make one filling with ethylated gasoline.

For operation of later models on unleaded gasoline of 95 (RON) it is necessary to reduce an ignition advancing corner on 3 °.

MODELS OF 1,3 L

On models with engines 13 N and 13 NB use of unleaded gasoline of 95 (RON) without restrictions is allowed.

For use of unleaded gasoline of 95 (RON) on models with engines 13 SC it is necessary to reduce an ignition advancing corner on 3 °.

MODELS OF 1,4 L

On all models unleaded gasoline of 95 (RON) without restrictions can be used.

MODELS OF 1,6 L

When using unleaded gasoline of 95 (RON) on models with engines 16 SH it is necessary to reduce an ignition advancing corner on 3 °. On later models with the engine 16 SV there is a fuel octane number switch.

The switch is located from the right forward side of a motor compartment and at the plant is installed on fuel of 98 (RON). For change of octane number of fuel release a clamp, take and turn on 180 ° the switch and establish it on the place. The octane number of fuel determined by the switch is visible on the switch.
