3.1.3.1.6. Adjustment of turns of idling and quality of mix

Before check of turns of idling and quality of mix execute the following checks:

 – check an ignition advancing corner (see subsection 8.1.7.1, subsection 8.1.7.2 and subsection 8.2.4);
 – check a state and an interelectrode gap of spark plugs;
 – check that an accelerator cable, and on models with the carburetor – and a cable of control of the air gate are correctly adjusted;
 – check that hoses of ventilation of a case are not hammered and are not pressed;
 – check that pure filtering an element of the air filter;
 – check that the exhaust system is in good shape;
 – if the engine works very roughly and unstably, check a compression in engine cylinders.

Make a control trip for warming up of the engine up to the normal working temperature.

Prevention

Adjustment needs to be made within 2 minutes after a car stop after a trip. If in the course of adjustment the radiator fan turned on, you make further adjustment after its switching off. For removal of excess fuel from an inlet collector 2 or 3 times increase engine turns to 2000–3000 rpm and transfer the engine to the mode of turns of idling.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect a tachometer according to the maintenance instruction.

3. In the presence of a gas analyzer check contents WITH in exhaust gases.
4. In the presence remove a cap from the screw of adjustment of quality of mix.
5. Warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature and check contents WITH in exhaust gases. If necessary, rotating the adjusting screw, establish the required contents WITH in exhaust gases (see rice. An arrangement of the screw of adjustment of quality of mix on the carburetor 32 TL, rice. 6. After carrying out adjustment install a new cap on the screw and disconnect a tachometer.

MODELS WITH SYSTEM OF INJECTION OF FUEL

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Models of 1,8 l
1. Connect a tachometer according to the maintenance instruction to the engine which is warmed up up to the normal working temperature.
2. Start the engine in the mode of idling and check idling turns. If necessary weaken a lock-nut and, rotating the adjusting screw, establish the required idling turns. The adjusting screw is located on a casing of a butterfly valve. In conclusion tighten a lock-nut.
3. In the presence of a gas analyzer check contents WITH in exhaust gases.
4. Start the engine in the mode of idling and check contents WITH.
5. For carrying out adjustment remove a cap from the adjusting screw located on the air stream measuring instrument (it is specified by an arrow). For enrichment of fuel mix rotate the screw clockwise, and for impoverishment – counterclockwise.
6. In conclusion, if necessary, modify idling turns. If contents WITH is not regulated, so there is a damage to system of injection of fuel or the engine is worn-out.
Models of 2,0 l
7. On all models turns of idling are regulated by the electronic control device, manual adjustment is not provided. If turns of idling do not correspond demanded, so there is a damage to system of ignition / injection of fuel.
8. On models without catalyst contents WITH can be adjusted in the same way, as well as for models of 1,8 l. On models with 16 valves the adjusting screw is located on the air stream measuring instrument.
9. On models with the catalyst contents WITH is automatically regulated by the electronic control device, manual adjustment is not provided. If contents WITH differs from the ignition / injection of fuel demanded, so in system there is a malfunction.
L models 1,4 and 1,6
10. On l models 1,4 and 1,6 turns of idling and maintenance WITH are automatically regulated by the control unit, manual adjustment is not provided. If turns of idling and maintenance WITH do not correspond to the required values, so there is a damage to system of ignition / injection of fuel.
