4.1.5. Adjustment of gaps of valves

Adjustment of gaps of valves needs to be made on the engine which is warmed up up to the normal working temperature. If adjustment of gaps of valves is carried out after capital repairs on the cold engine, then it is necessary to make repeated adjustment of valves after installation of the engine in the car and its warming up up to the normal working temperature.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the air filter.
2. Mark and remove high-voltage wires from spark plugs.
3. Disconnect a hose of ventilation of a case from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
4. Unscrew four bolts and uncover a head of the block of cylinders.
5. For a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft turn a bent shaft of the engine in such situation that the piston of the first cylinder was in the top dead point in a compression step. It can be checked, having unscrewed a spark plug of the first cylinder and having closed an opening for a candle a finger.
6. At approach of the piston of the first cylinder to VMT in a compression step the finger will feel pressure. Also it can be checked, having uncovered the distributor of ignition and having checked an ignition distributor rotor arrangement. The rotor has to be directed to contact of a high-voltage wire of the first cylinder on a cover. Also at the same time the tag on a pulley of a bent shaft has to be combined with the index on a cover (it is shown by an arrow).
7. At installation of the engine in this situation it is possible to adjust valvate gaps on the following valves, considering from the gas distribution mechanism drive: the 1st – final, the 2nd – inlet, the 3rd – inlet, the 5th – final.
8. Turn a bent shaft of the engine on one whole revolution and adjust valvate gaps on the following valves: the 4th – final, 6-y-inlet, the 7th – inlet, the 8th – final.
9. Carry out check of a valvate gap a probe edge. For adjustment rotate a lock nut of a yoke before very dense movement of an edge of the probe.
10. It is also possible to check and regulate valvate gaps on the working engine. It is carried out in the same way, but on the moving valves. At the same time it is necessary to screw in a spark plug of the first cylinder and to establish on it a high-voltage wire. For reduction of spraying of oil establish a piece of cardboard between pushers of yokes and an end face of a head of the block of cylinders.
11. After adjustment remove all traces of old laying from the interfaced surface of a head of the block of cylinders and, if necessary, replace laying of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
12. Establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and fix it by bolts with washers.
13. Screw in a spark plug, connect to it a high-voltage wire and establish into place a hose of ventilation of a case and the air filter.
