12.16.2. Repair of a steering column

Elements of a steering column without adjustment of a tilt angle
1 – button of a sound signal,

8 – bearing,
9 – lower casing of a steering column,

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a steering column from the car.
2. Using a screw-driver edge as the lever, release ignition lock casing clamps, then turn a casing counterclockwise and remove it from a steering column.
3. For removal of the bearing from a casing of the lock of ignition release two clamps of the bearing and, using the tubular mandrel established on an external ring of the bearing beat out the bearing. At installation of the new bearing check that the persistent washer and the fixing spring are correctly established.
4. Unscrew screws with a secret head and remove an ignition lock casing. Do not remove at the same time the switch and the cylinder of the lock of ignition to keep their relative positioning.
5. If the steering column is installed in the car, unscrew top tightening a bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling to a steering shaft.
6. Take a steering shaft from a steering column.
7. Temporarily establish a plastic centering washer in the lower part of a pipe of a steering column.
8. Establish a steering shaft in a pipe of a steering column.
9. If the steering column is installed in the car, connect a steering shaft to the elastic coupling and screw in top tightening a bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling, but do not tighten it finally.
10. Put the lock of ignition and fix it by screws with a secret head.
11. Establish an ignition lock casing with new clamps.
12. If the steering column is installed in the car, move a steering shaft up to an emphasis and tighten tightening a bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling.
13. Check that forward wheels of the car are established in situation for the movement directly forward, and the top bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling is located in horizontal position.
14. Further assembly is made in the sequence, the return dismantling.
15. Establish a steering wheel.
