8.1.3. Adjustment of a gap and the closed condition of contacts of the breaker
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Unscrew two screws and uncover the distributor of ignition and a distributor rotor. |
2. Clear an internal surface of a cover of the distributor of ignition and check its state. |
3. If the internal surface of contacts of a cover of the distributor of ignition strongly burned, replace a cover. |
4. If on contacts there is an insignificant deposit, using the screw-driver, clear it. |
5. Pressing the central coal contact in a cover, check smoothness of its movement and a vystupaniye of contact from a cover which has to be at least 6 mm. |
6. Using a screw-driver edge, unclench contacts of the breaker and check their state. |
7. If contacts are worn-out, they need to be replaced. |
8. If contacts of the breaker are in satisfactory condition or new contacts are come, it is necessary to adjust a gap between contacts with use of an edge of the probe. |
9. Mark and remove high-voltage wires from spark plugs, then unscrew spark plugs. |
10. At the released emergency brake and the included transfer move the car forward and watch the ignition distributor until the lever of contacts of the breaker is on a ledge of one of four cams of a shaft of the distributor of ignition. |

11. An edge of the probe check a gap between contacts of the breaker. When checking a gap the edge of the probe and contacts of the breaker have to be pure and dry. |
12. If the gap does not correspond to the required values, weaken the screw fixing a plate of contacts and, moving a plate, establish the required gap. The plate can be moved with the screw-driver inserted between a tag in a plate of the breaker and two adjacent ledges of a basic plate of the distributor of ignition. |
13. After installation of a gap of contacts of the breaker fix a plate by the screw and repeatedly measure a gap between contacts. |
14. Establish an ignition distributor rotor, a cover, spark plugs and high-voltage wires. |

In the presence of the measuring instrument of duration of the closed condition of contacts of the breaker, the most exact method of installation of a gap between contacts of the breaker is a measurement and installation of duration of the closed condition of contacts of the breaker.
The corner of the closed condition of contacts of the breaker is a corner on which the ignition distributor cam turns, so far contacts of the breaker remain closed. Advantage of this method is that any wear of a shaft of the distributor of ignition and contour of cams is considered, and also measurement errors when using the probe are excluded.
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. For check of duration of the closed condition of contacts of the breaker uncover the distributor of ignition and a rotor. |
2. Connect measuring instrument probes to contact (15) and contact - (1) coils of ignition. |
3. The assistant has to include ignition and turn a bent shaft of the engine a starter. |
4. At this time on the measuring instrument read a corner of the closed condition of contacts. Fluctuation of an arrow of the measuring instrument demonstrates that the bent shaft of the engine is turned insufficiently quickly. |
5. In this case unscrew spark plugs and repeat check. |
6. If a corner too small, then a gap between contacts too big, and vice versa, if a corner of the closed condition of contacts a big, so gap between contacts small. |
7. Adjust a gap between contacts of the breaker. |
8. After adjustment of a corner of the closed condition of contacts of the breaker disconnect the measuring instrument and establish a rotor of the distributor and a cover of the distributor of ignition. |
9. Check installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition. |
