4.3.6.3. Adjustment of a gear belt

The special Opel tool No. KM-666 for measurement of a tension of a gear belt

You make adjustment of a tension of a gear belt on the cold engine.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Adjustment with use of the special Opel KM-666 tool
1. Remove a casing of a gear belt and, having weakened a bolt of fastening of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension, check that VMT tags on pulleys of the camshaft and a bent shaft were combined with indexes. If necessary tighten a bent shaft that tags were combined.
2. According to the instruction install the special KM-666 tool on a tension mechanism pulley arm
3. Note the seventh tooth, considering counterclockwise from VMT tag on a pulley of the camshaft operating final valves.
4. Turn a bent shaft of the engine clockwise before combination of noted tooth with the index of the top dead point on a cover of a head of the block of cylinders. Rotate a bent shaft evenly and smoothly to exclude jumping of a gear belt on teeths of pulleys. Tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension the required moment.
5. Remove the special tool.

6. Remove a casing of a gear belt and, having weakened a bolt of fastening of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension, check that VMT tags on pulleys of the camshaft and a bent shaft were combined with indexes. If necessary tighten a bent shaft that tags were combined.
	7. Turn a tension mechanism pulley to a gear belt so that in the center of the longest branch of a belt the belt could be turned on 90 ° hand fingers, putting moderate effort. In the presence of spring scales or a steelyard and a steel ruler check a deflection of a belt which has to make 10 mm under loading of 9 kg.
8. Record a tension mechanism pulley in this situation and tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley the required moment.
9. Turn a bent shaft of the engine clockwise on two whole revolutions and check that VMT tags on pulleys of a bent shaft and camshafts were combined with indexes.
10. Establish an external casing of a gear belt. Check that rubber sealing rings in openings under screws fell into place, then fix a casing by screws.
11. Establish a belt of the drive of the generator and adjust its tension.
13. Install the air filter.
14. Connect a weight wire to the accumulator.
15. After adjustment of a tension of a gear belt at the first opportunity address on service station for carrying out adjustment with use of special tools.
16. Further installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal.
