4.3.8. Removal, check and installation of camshafts

Prevention

At installation of camshafts use a new gear belt.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Take off a gear belt.
2. Unscrew two screws and uncover the ignition distributor. Disconnect hoses of ventilation of a case from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders, then unscrew 20 bolts and uncover a head of the block of cylinders.
	3. Fix the camshaft from a provorachivaniye, having established a key on camshaft lysk, and unscrew a bolt of fastening of a pulley of the camshaft.
	4. Remove a camshaft pulley.
	5. Similarly remove a pulley from the second camshaft. Do not mix pulleys of camshafts. On a pulley of the camshaft operating final valves there is a tag of L, and on the pulley operating inlet valves, the tag is absent.
6. At removal of the camshaft operating final valves unscrew two bolts and remove the ignition distributor from an end face of a head of the block of cylinders.
	7. Check that on covers of bearings of the camshaft there are tags, and at their absence, using a punch, put tags on covers and the top part of a head of the block of cylinders. Before removal note an arrangement of covers of bearings as they have to be established in the same situation, as well as before removal.
	8. Working on a spiral, outside inside, weaken covers of bearings of the camshaft on a half of a turn for each pass before full unscrewing of bolts. It is necessary for gradual and uniform removal of pressure of valvate springs. Pay attention that the cover of the back bearing of the camshaft operating final valves also supports the distributor of ignition and fastens two nuts.
9. Uncover bearings of the camshaft and remove the camshaft from a head of the block of cylinders. Remove sealing rings.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check the working surfaces of bearings of camshafts and contours of cams of camshafts for wear. With any wear replace the camshaft. If camshaft bearings are worn-out, it is necessary to replace a head of the block of cylinders.

2. Check a condition of working surfaces of hydraulic pushers which contact with camshaft cams.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Apply a thin film of lubricant on the basis of a molybdenum disulfide on contact surfaces of hydraulic pushers of valves and camshafts.
2. Apply a thin layer of sealant on the interfaced surfaces of forward and back covers of bearings of camshafts No. 1, 6 and 11.
	3. Install camshafts in a head of the block of cylinders in such situation that adjusting pins for pulleys of camshafts were above. Establish covers of bearings of camshafts on a head of the block of cylinders and fix them by nuts.
	4. Tighten nuts of fastening of covers of bearings of camshafts by hand, then on a spiral from the center to edge tighten fastening nuts in a certain sequence, turning each nut on a half of a turn for one pass until each cover does not concern a head of the block of cylinders. Then in the same sequence tighten nuts the required moment in several stages.
5. Establish new sealing rings of camshafts.
	6. Establish pulleys of camshafts and fix them by bolts, having tightened them the required moment. Hold camshafts from a provorachivaniye in the same way, as well as when unscrewing bolts.
7. Check ease and smoothness of rotation of camshafts on the head of the block of cylinders installed on the engine be careful that the opening valve did not hit against the piston. In case the camshaft is not turned, check correctness of orientation of covers of bearings of camshafts.
8. Install the distributor of ignition and a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
9. Establish a new gear belt and adjust its tension. At installation of new camshafts execute a running in on the modes given in subsection 4.2.8.
