3.2.3.3.10. Replacement of cooling liquid

Liquid discharge

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. It is necessary to merge liquid on the cold engine.
2. Unscrew a stopper of a broad tank, having turned it counterclockwise.
3. Substitute a vessel under the lower hose of a radiator, disconnect a hose (it is specified by an arrow) and merge liquid.
4. It is not provided in the block of cylinders of a separate stopper therefore liquid completely is not removed.

Before gas station the system should be washed out.

Washing of the cooling system

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the thermostat. Put into place the case of the thermostat and put on a hose.
2. Insert a flushing hose into the lower disconnected hose of a radiator and fill system with clear water until water begins to follow from a radiator mouth. Continue to wash out within 10–15 min., clear water will not begin to follow yet.
3. If the system is strongly polluted, then wash out it in the opposite direction, having inserted a flushing hose into the lower branch pipe of a radiator. If there are doubts in purity of a radiator, then it should be removed and washed out, at the same time stirring up. Then in addition wash out system a water stream before installation of the thermostat and accession of hoses.
4. In extreme cases use of special additives for cleaning of considerable deposits of a scum is allowed, at the same time be guided by the instruction of the manufacturer.
5. If liquid changed regularly, then need of washing, as a rule, disappears.

Filling

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check a condition of all hoses and connections. Attach the lower hose.
2. Fill in liquid through a broad tank. At first the concentrated antifreeze in the necessary quantity, and then – water is filled in.
3. When filling periodically squeeze big hoses not to allow formation of air traffic jams.
4. On the most part of cars the small ventilating hoses connected to a broad tank are provided. If these hoses are absent, then unscrew the ventilating union (it is specified by an arrow) on a bend of the thermostat and when through it liquid begins to follow, wrap the union.
5. After filling, warm up the engine, stop and on the cold engine check liquid level again. If necessary add.
6. Check reliability of fastenings of hoses after gas station and later several hundreds of kilometers of a run.

ANTIFREEZE

Antifreeze represents mix of the distilled water with an ethylene glycol concentrate. Antifreeze provides protection of the cooling system against corrosion and increases a boiling point of cooling liquid. The amount of ethylene glycol in antifreeze depends on weather service conditions of the car and makes from 40 to 70%.
