3.1.3.3.1. Replacement of cooling liquid


Prevention

Replacement of cooling liquid is made on the cold engine. Avoid hit of cooling liquid on the painted surfaces of a body and clothes. Otherwise wash out the place where cooling liquid, a large amount of water got.


Discharge of cooling liquid

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Uncover a broad tank.
2. Install a container for collecting cooling liquid under a radiator.
3. Weaken a collar and remove a hose from the basis of a radiator and merge cooling liquid in a container.
4. After discharge of cooling liquid establish a hose on a radiator and fix it by a collar.

Washing of the cooling system

Cooling liquid needs to be changed periodically, and to wash out the cooling system as in channels of system the rust and dirt is formed. The radiator needs to be washed out irrespective of the engine.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Washing of a radiator
1. Disconnect hoses from a radiator.
2. Insert a hose into an entrance opening of the top tank of a radiator, include water and wash out a radiator before emergence of clear water from the lower tank of a radiator.
3. If it is not possible to wash out a radiator clear water, then use detergent.
Washing of the engine
4. Remove the thermostat, then temporarily establish a cover of the thermostat and disconnect hoses from a radiator.
5. Give through a hose a pure stream to the block of cylinders of the engine and wash out it before emergence from the lower hose conducting to a radiator pure.
6. Install the thermostat and connect cooling system hoses.

Filling of the cooling system

Before filling of the cooling system check that all hoses inside in good shape. Pay attention that mix of antifreeze has to be used all the year round for prevention of corrosion.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Uncover a broad tank.
2. On models of 1,2 l disconnect a heater hose from a head of the block of cylinders, and on models 1,3, 1,4 and later models of 1,6 l disconnect a wire and unscrew the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid from an inlet collector.
3. On early models of 1,6 l and all models 1,8 and 2,0 of l unscrew the screw of removal of air which is located in a thermostat casing. In the absence of the screw of removal of air unscrew temperature sensor (it is specified by an arrow).
4. Fill the cooling system, slowly filling in cooling liquid in a broad tank to exclude formation of air traffic jams.
5. If replacement of cooling liquid was made, then at first fill in 2 pure l in a broad tank, then fill in the required quantity of a concentrate of antifreeze and other water.
6. If replacement of cooling liquid was made, then at first fill in 2 pure l in a broad tank, then fill in the required quantity of a concentrate of antifreeze and other water.
7. Bring the level of cooling liquid in a broad tank to a tag of KALT and screw a cover of a broad tank.
8. Start the engine and warm up it up to the working temperature.
9. Stop the engine and cool it, then check the level of cooling liquid.
10. Check tightness of the cooling system.

ANTIFREEZE

Antifreeze represents mix of the distilled water with an ethylene glycol concentrate. Antifreeze provides protection of the cooling system against corrosion and increases a boiling point of cooling liquid. The amount of ethylene glycol in antifreeze depends on weather service conditions of the car and makes from 40 to 70%.
