10.3.2. Removal and installation of a power shaft

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. In the presence take off a cap from a wheel, then weaken bolts of fastening of a forward wheel.
2. Tighten the emergency brake, lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports.
3. Remove a forward wheel.
4. Take the forelock of fixing of a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave.
5. Weaken a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave for what record a nave from a provorachivaniye, having screwed in in it two bolts of fastening of a wheel and having inserted a steel core between bolts.
6. Unscrew a nut and remove a washer from a power shaft.
7. Take the forelock, then unscrew a koronchaty nut of fastening of a pin of the spherical hinge of the lower lever to a rotary fist.
8. Take a power shaft from the transmission, for this purpose insert mount between the internal CV JOINT and a case of the transmission and when the assistant pulls a wheel nave outside, strong sharp blow to the end of mount beat out a power shaft from gearing in a semi-axial gear wheel of differential.
9. For extraction of a power shaft from the transmission it is possible to use independently manufactured tool.
10. Using a soft wire, tie up the internal end of a power shaft to a car body.
11. On models with the automatic transmission for extraction of the right power shaft it is necessary to use the drift made of soft metal and established on a differential case.
12. After release of a lock ring take the internal CV JOINT of a power shaft from the transmission.
13. At removal of a power shaft install under the transmission a container for collecting the oil which flowed out from the transmission.
14. Instead of the taken power shaft insert plastic or wooden caps into the transmission.
15. Take the external end of a power shaft from a nave.
16. If the power shaft densely sits in a nave, temporarily screw a nut of a nave and, using the hammer, beat out a power shaft from a nave.
17. It is impossible to lower the car on wheels at all with the removed by two or one power shafts as it will lead to damage of bearings of a wheel.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before installation of a power shaft check a condition of a sealing ring of a power shaft in the transmission.
2. Remove a lock ring (it is specified by shooters) from the internal end of a power shaft.
3. Establish a new lock ring (it is specified by an arrow).
4. Clear vents for a power shaft in a nave and the transmission.
5. Grease with a thin layer of lubricant working edges of a sealing ring, a vent of a power shaft and flanges.
6. Combine internal vents of a power shaft with vents in a nave and insert a power shaft into a nave.
7. Establish a new washer on a power shaft and by hand screw a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave.
8. Establish a power shaft in differential, having combined vents of a power shaft with flutes of semi-axial gear wheels of differential.
9. Insert a power shaft into the transmission against the stop.
10. Insert a pin of the spherical hinge of the lower lever into a rotary fist and fix by a nut.
11. Tighten a nut the required moment and record from unscrewing by the forelock.
12. Tighten a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave the required moment and record from unscrewing by the new forelock.
13. If the forelock cannot be installed because of not coaxiality of an opening and grooves in a nut, tighten a nut before their next combination.
14. If the quencher of fluctuations is established on a new power shaft, then it needs to be established on the same place or according to the drawing (And – distance = 260 mm, In – a protective cover of the external hinge of equal angular speeds).
15. Establish a wheel, then lower the car on the earth and tighten bolts of fastening of a wheel the required moment.
16. Establish a wheel cap.
17. Check oil level in the transmission and, if necessary, bring it to norm.
